When you tell me something works, I ask, “Who for, by what measures, and at what cost?”

Stock buy-backs, smelting furnaces, corporate bailouts, and CAFOs work for some of us but not the sum of us.

If your bargain saves me a dollar on a pork chop but costs me my soul, was it worth it? Maybe it depends – how good was the pork chop?

They say the measure of a person is the good we do in the world, but how do we measure the value of a sunrise, a loved one’s kiss, the taste of raspberries in the summertime?

When will we realize that what seems good for me can only be truly measured by what is good for all? That we are not solitary creatures, living measly, narrow lives, but woven and weaving into the vast, intricate network of life?
